Yeah. Tea is really important in British culture.

I drink tea too, but I’ve never thought about it as culture.

That’s the interesting part.
Things we do every day can mean something special in another country.

Tea in the UK
Today, Lucas stands confidently in front of the class to give a presentation on British culture.
His topic is something deeply connected to everyday life in the United Kingdom — tea.
“Tea plays an important role in British daily life,” Lucas begins.
“Many people drink it several times a day, especially in the morning and in the afternoon.
Most people add milk, and sometimes sugar, to create a smooth and comforting taste.”
He then explains the tradition of afternoon tea.
“Afternoon tea is more than just drinking tea,” Lucas says.
“It’s a time to slow down, relax, and enjoy small snacks such as sandwiches, scones, and cakes.
People often share this time with family or friends, talking and enjoying each other’s company.”
As he speaks, Lucas looks around the classroom and smiles.
“Maya, you like tea, don’t you? You’re even drinking it right now.”
Maya laughs softly.
“Yes, I love tea. I drink it almost every day.”
Lucas then turns to Kotaro.
“What about you? Do you enjoy tea as well?”
Kotaro feels a slight nervousness, but he nods and answers carefully.
“Yes, I do. I usually drink tea in the morning before school.
It helps me feel calm and ready for the day.”
Lucas smiles warmly.
“That’s nice to hear. Let’s go have afternoon tea together sometime.”
Kotaro’s face brightens.
“I’d really like that.”
In that moment, Kotaro realizes something important.
Through English, he is not only learning words and grammar —
he is sharing everyday experiences, feelings, and cultures.
English, he now understands, is a bridge between people.

「はい、好きです。朝、学校に行く前によく飲みます。
気持ちが落ち着いて、一日を始める準備ができます。」
ルーカスはあたたかく微笑みました。
「それはいいね。今度一緒にアフタヌーンティーに行こう。」
コタローの表情が明るくなります。
「ぜひ行きたいです。」
その瞬間、コタローは大切なことに気づきます。
英語は単語や文法を学ぶためだけのものではなく、
